Valentines Day Party!

Another fun day at Miss Kristen's house!
We got to use Miss Kristen's awesome magnet balls again! (And Miss Jenni actually remember to snap some pictures this time :) )

This was a popular chair as we waited to start preschool.

And soon a random and friendly tickle fight commenced!

 We love all our friends!

After circle time, Miss Kristen read us a fun book about a small mouse trying to get up high enough to give a tall friend a kiss....

The kids were so anxious to see what would happen that they kept scooting closer....
 ....and closer!

After that we headed to the windows and got to practice writing the letter V using dry erase markers!

They thought this was awesome!

(They were given strict instruction not to write on anything at home with markers!!!)

Then on to some Valentines "Don't Eat Pete"!

Each child then got to make a "stain glass" heart to take home!
(The kids were a bit wild during this.  We had to move everyone in the class to "yellow" because everyone kept blowing the pieces of tissue paper all over the table.... whoops!)

But the final products were beautiful.
The tissue paper looked so pretty when we held it up to the light!

The kids started getting a little out of control as we took turns doing a bean bag toss!!!
Lots of wiggles at this Valentines party!

Then it was time for the "Heart Walk"! We listened to fun songs and stopped on a heart when the music stopped! If Miss Kristen picked our color, we got a prize!
We mixed it up a little and sometimes we hopped from heart to heart.... sometimes we slithered like snakes....

During the heart walk, we took turns going one at a time to deliver our Valentines into our friends' boxes!

It was so fun to put one in each box! And exciting to know that we were going to leave with a box full of fun things from our friends!

It was a beautiful day and we were ready to go out and enjoy the sun by the end of the day!

Thanks for a great party, Kristen!

V is for VOLCANO!!!

Today, while we waited for all of our friends to arrive, the kids got to pick out pictures of different letters of the alphabet, then they would put that on a cookie sheet and use pom-poms with magnets on them to cover all the dots on the pictures! It was super fun! Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of that..... sorry :(

After circle time, Miss Kristen talked to us about he letter V and different words that start with V.

Then we headed to the table, where she showed us how to write the letter V. And we all practiced writing on our paint bags!

Then, it was on to learning about VOLCANOES!
We cut a volcano shape out of a paper bag.

And as we glued them onto our paper, Miss Kristen taught us about different parts of a volcano. The dent in the top of the volcano is the hole called a vent. It is the opening where things come out of it.
We glued on cotton balls to represent the ash that shoots out of volcanoes.
And red tissue paper to be the lava!

Next we got to watch some neat videos showing us real volcano eruptions!

We learned how the lava is actually called magma when its in the volcano, and then its called lava when it comes out. It is SUPER HOT. And when it cools, it turns into a black rock!

Next, we made our own volcanoes by molding playdough up around a cup on a plate.

After snack time, we got to see the awesome things we can do with our volcanoes.....
This, was definitely the highlight of the day!

Miss Kristen put some baking soda into the cup of the volcano she had made and then let he kids take turns pouring VINEGAR onto the baking soda.

You should have seen their reactions.....
 .....as the volcano bubbled inside....

 ....and erupted over the top!

They loved it so much! Everyone got to take two turns making the volcano erupt.

They wanted to do it again, but we had to let Miss Kristen do the last BIG eruption since we ran out of baking soda!

Each of the kids got to take home their own volcano to demonstrate to their families!
Remember, dump a bunch of baking soda into the cup. Then pour vinegar in and watch the fun! For a different twist, add some red or orange food coloring to the vinegar!

To finish off the day, we switched gears and talked about Valentine's day!
Lydia helped us read a book about Mouse making valentines for all of his friends.

Then we marched back to the table....
 ....to decorate our valentines boxes!

Everyone did great. And we are all excited for our Valentines Day Party on Thursday!
