K-K---KANGAROOS!

It sure was fun to be back together with all our preschool friends today!
We had a lot of fun building awesome towers with blocks while we waited for everyone to arrive!

During circle time we discovered that EVERYONE was here!!!
It has been a while since we had our tree full of owls!

Today, Miss Danell taught us about the letter K using our big mommy Kangaroo.
We learned that Kangaroos have pouches on their tummies to hold their babies!

Then we each got to lace up our own K pouches.

We tied them around our waists.....

...then hopped around like Kangaroos, gathering all the letter K's around the house and stuffing them in our pouches!

After all that hopping, we took a little rest while Miss Danell read us a book...

...with a very helpful Kangaroo in it.

After that, it was time to put our baby Kangaroos down for a nap. Each child took turns picking a Kangaroo out of the momma's pouch. Each Kangaroo had a different picture on it.

And the kids would then find the "bed" that had the correct letter on it to match the word on their Kangaroo!

It was a great review of some of the letters of the alphabet and the sounds they make!

The kids were a little concerned about he lack of color on the Kangaroos, so we then let them get out the crayons and color their Kangaroos!

Next it was time to see just how far a Kangaroo can jump.  Miss Danell had taped a looooooong string to the ground to show us how far an adult Kangaroo can jump in one bounce.

Did you know an adult Kangaroo can jump as far as 30 feet???

We all tested out our own jumping skills to see how we measured up....

And, finally on to snack time where we had bananas, goldfish crackers, and some tasty rice Krispie treats!

It was a fun day of the letter K!
