The Letter "M"!!!

It was so perfect that for our "M" week we got to be at the Miller house! We had a lot of fun learning about the Letter "M" and all the fun words that start with it!

On Tuesday we got to learn about our 5 Senses! (Last time we were supposed to have school at Ms. Laura's it had to be cancelled, so we were making up some of the things we were supposed to learn :). But there are some senses that start with "m"! Like Mouth! And Manos (hands)!)

I will attempt to add the pictures for Tuesday later. My computer is having a hard time loading them from the email right now :(. Sorry! But here is the fun that we had!

Carmen was our spotlight and brought a cute baby picture of herself to share with us! We learned about our five senses and got to explore them!

Seeing: We went on a color shape hunt and found matches.

Hearing: We played musical chairs (stopping when the music stopped) and read a
book about waking up to sounds.

Touch: We got to reach in a bag and had to guess what an item was by feeling it. We also read a touch and feel book about Santa.

Taste: We tried all different kinds of taste.  Lemon (sour), Cocoa (bitter), Candy (sweet), and Salty - pretzels

Smell: We got to smell 9 different scents  (in cups) vanilla, banana, mint, etc. Then we read a book about Pluto the dog following his nose.

For snack time we enjoyed crackers and raisins and then we all went outside for some playtime :).

Overall it was a good day, however because everyone had a difficult time paying attention and listening to Ms. Laura everybody had to move down to yellow :(. But they were able to change their behaviors and end on a positive note :).

Thursday was also a fun day at school! We got to explore even more about the letter "M" and all of the yummy words that can be associated with it!

We started out by playing with play dough that Ms. Laura had made as our friends all arrived. It was a great attention getter for the kids! They all could have played with it for hours and did a great job at keeping it all clean!

Then Ms. Laura read us a book all about "Movement"! We all got to practice our cool Moves!

Next we painted with our water colors! We traced the letter "M" with our fingers and then our paintbrushes to practice writing. Then we painted a picture of the Moon!

Next we got to play "Don't Eat the Monster!" using "M&M's"!

Ms. Laura taught us all a fun science experiment with Marshmallows! We put marshmallows in a several cups with Milk, Apple Juice, Lemonade, Cold Water and Vinegar to see if they would dissolve with any of them. All of the marshmallows stayed in tact!

However, when each of us stirred marshmallows in a cup with hot water they Melted! The kids all got a kick out of watching their marshmallows get smaller and smaller!

Then Ms. Laura read us a book about a Bubble Monkey that got glue stuck in him!

We built fun things with Marshmallows and toothpicks! Including the letter "M", some dumbells, necklaces, dragon flies, and even made patters with the colors!

There were still lots of fun activities left to do, but since everyone had so much fun with the activities we had already done we didn't have time for the rest! It was a fantastic day and EVERYONE stayed on green the whole time!

Thank you Ms. Laura!!!

L is for...

We started playgroup with a fun song!  Jenni has an amazing voice so singing is fun!
Carly did the calendar for us today.
Robby was the spotlight today.  He was such a cute little baby!  Thanks for sharing Robby.
The pledge is always fun to do!
They are all listening so well!
Lexi held a lamb for singing time.  "Mary had a little lamb."
Mrs. Jenni had a bag of items that started with "L."   We took turns taking out the items.  Then we would do some sort of activity that had to do with the item they took out of the bag.  We were able to find the letter L in our names.  Everyone had at least one L
 Trying to find our l's
We went on a Leaf hunt outside.  We found so many fun leaves in Mrs. Jenni's yard.

More leaf hunting on this cold day.
One more picture of the leaf hunt.
We brought the leaves inside so we could smell them.  We learned quickly tasting them was not fun.
But, smelling them was exciting!  One leaf smelled like mints.
 Time for lemons and limes!!
They were sour, but yummy!
Licking the limes and making sour faces
Some of us didn't really like the lemons.

Another funny sour face!
Next was Legos!!
We made legos into the letter L.
Lollipop, lollipop, oh lolly lolly pop!  We made lollipops next.
Left and right.  How do we know which hand is the left hand?
We learned that our left hands make the letter L with our thumb and pointer finger!  That is one way we can figure out which hand is our left hand.
 Snack time is always fun!
We were able to drink some yummy Lemonade and have some snacks
Our lollipops were done cooking and ready to take home.
Playtime is one of our favorite times!  We went outside to play.
Carmen wanted to play inside and feed the pony.
Everyone else played outside.
Thanks Mrs. Jenni!!  It was a fun day filled withL i L!

Kindness begins with ME (and with the letter K...!)

Today we had a special extra teacher helper with us-- Carly's grandma!
She was very kind and helpful! She helped our day go very smoothly!

Somehow the kids ended up segregated into boys and girls during circle time... We told them they could stay that way as long as they listened and all kept their hands to their selves.
And, everyone did AMAZINGLY well today!!!

After circle time today, each child got to pick a kite out of our Kangaroo momma's pouch and tell us what color they got.

Then we "flew" our kites around the house while listening to "Lets Go Fly a Kite."

Miss Danell then introduced us to our theme for the day-- Kindness.
We learned what it means to be kind.
Then we learned a new song about kindness.

"I want to be kind to everyone.....

...kindness begins with me!"

Miss Danell told us a story about a big sister learning to be kind to her little sister.
It takes practice and effort to be kind all the time! We talked about different things we can do to be kind to our family and friends.

In the story the dad told the girl that she needed to take a daily dose of "Vitamin K"-- KINDESS!

Miss Danell gave us each a dose of "Vitamin K" (Hershey's KISSES) to help us remember to be kind.

And then we each got to count out 14 more kisses to add to our bag of "Vitamin K" to take home with us.

As was mentioned before, everyone was SOO WELL BEHAVED TODAY!
Everyone demonstrated KINDNESS so well today!!

Great job!

HUUUUGGGGG!!!
