I is for Igloo, Ice, Icky, Insects, and.... ICE CREAM

Today we had a few of our friends missing because they were sick. Get better soon!!

As the kids arrived, they got to draw on this GIANT paper. They loved it.

Then Miss Hiedi introduced our letter for today, and we all practice writing a big I and a small i.
 Then it was Circle Time.

We had 5 people missing today!

Then we used the calendar, and Lexi got to turn over the white numbers until we got to today!

Then we sang our ABC song, and after talked about the letter I some more.
Then it was time for ice skating!!

We wrote a big I for one foot, and a little i for the other.

We turned music on and skated around! It was fun!

Then we came to the table to make our igloos with marsh mellows and toothpicks.

We even made the letter I.
Then Miss Hiedi talked about icing. How it's sometimes called frosting, and how it's yummy!

 She drew a big I and a little i....

and then each child got to put fun sprinkle balls on the icing.

 They turned out great!
 Then we learned about instruments.
Miss Hiedi played the recorder, and we all pretended to have a different instrument.
She also told us about Indian Corn and how we get to see it around fall.
The kids pretended to be Indians and they liked making some noise.

Next up was counting with Insects...or beans that looked like little bugs!
We made 5 rows of 10, just like our colorful example.

Then we got to play with INK on our I sheet.

It was fun to use our finger to do I's.
Miss Hiedi told us that sometimes I's like to hide in the middle of words too...
Then it was time for sunshine!
Miss Hiedi even gave some kids a ride!
Then last but not least...ICE CREAM!
They pretended their bowls were instruments too!
All of the kids were very patient as they did their math.

We counted the number of toppings we were going to add.
Each child waited and counted every topping. 10 M&M's, 5 Oreos, etc.

Then it was time to eat!! Yummm...
 Learning about adding and subtracting.
and a story as we ate some ice cream!

Thanks for a great time Hiedi!!
